POLOKWANE – The Golden Divas stage play was performed at the Savannah Mall on Youth Day as part of the Limpopo Arts and Culture Association’s art exhibition.
The play, written and directed by Selaelo Maredi in association with Tshukudu Productions and supported by the Limpopo Arts and Culture Association, captures the challenges faced by all women and how women manage to laugh their way through these problems, while dealing with the social ills they face daily.
The play tells the story of four friends whose friendship began after they learned that they were dating the same man.
It deals with issues such as women empowerment, gender inequality and relationships. It also praises good men whose efforts seem to go unnoticed.
The Golden Divas message was that a true man who truly loves you would not beat or abuse you.
Shoppers who stopped to watch the production agreed that it was very well put together. “It was a wonderful play, very inspirational,” said one of the shoppers, Lerato Mamabolo.
