Gospel singers in the province stand a chance to win a recording deal and take their singing career to the next level, following the launch of the Limpopo Gospel Talent Search.
POLOKWANE – Gospel singers in the province stand a chance to win a recording deal and take their singing career to the next level, following the launch of the Limpopo Gospel Talent Search.
The talent search will be conducted for the second time, and was first launched last year. Nicoline Chewe was crowned the winner of last year’s talent search and she is at the moment recording her album with C-Major productions.
According to Ngola Lekgothoane, Limpopo Gospel Talent Search founder, all the auditions will be conducted at Meropa. “Last year we visited all the five districts in the province and for financial reasons, it was difficult for us to go to certain places. As a consequence, we thought it would be better if we hosted the search at one venue,” he explains.
He says the purpose of the talent search is to unearth talent in the province, and to produce new singers.
The winner of this year’s talent search will win a recording deal while the second and third place winners will receive vouchers from Meropa Casino and Entertainment World.
The auditions will start on Saturday. “We are going to host auditions every Sunday until December when 15 finalists will battle against each other.
“Last year we formed a gospel group called Total Praise and this group will share the stage with Joyous Celebration on September 26 at Meropa,” Lekgothoane says.
He says there will be performances by different gospel singers throughout the talent search.
