POLOKWANE – No sooner had the new Jeep Cherokee model range hit the streets of the city, than Review seized the opportunity to take the Limited All Wheel Drive (AWD) version for a test-drive.
The Jeep Cherokee greets its driver with plush Nappa leather seats that support the body contours very well. The instrument panel is easily accessible and the instruments easy to use.
With one turn of the transponder key, the 3.2l V-6 24 valve Pentastar petrol engine roars to life. This six cylinder power unit is paired with a smoothly operational nine speed automatic gear box. The sleek gear box impresses in urban and off-road conditions.
The Pentastar engine delivers a healthy 200kW at 6 500rpm and a strong torque output of 315Nm at 4 300rpm.
The specially designed intake manifold features low-rumble tuning, but step on the accelerator and the V6 unit purrs like a kitten.
The new Cherokee range features a new concept in power steering with its electronic power steering system (EPS), moving away from the traditional hydraulic system. The result is that the Cherokee has an improved fuel efficiency and also contributes to the nimble handling of this vehicle which weighs in at 1 806kg.
The Cherokee Limited is top of the range in terms of equipment, technological contents and exclusivity. The front Nappa leather seats are power-adjustable, heated and ventilated.
This version also features 18 inch aluminum wheels, a UConnect 8,4 inch radio touchscreen and Bi-Xenon headlamps.
Other standard equipment on the Jeep Cherokee Limited are:
• Deep tinted sunscreen glass;
• Automatic headlights;
• Rain sensor;
• Signal mirrors with approach and courtesy lamps;
• Eight way power driver seat;
• Leather-wrapped shift knob;
