Westenburg Winter Ball

The Westenburg Rugby Club hosted yet another successful Winter Ball on Saturday evening at Meropa Casino and Entertainment World. The main aim of the event was to raise funds towards the completion of the stadium that is currently being built in Westenburg.

POLOKWANE – The Westenburg Rugby Club hosted yet another successful Winter Ball on Saturday evening at Meropa Casino and Entertainment World. The main aim of the event was to raise funds towards the completion of the stadium that is currently being built in Westenburg.

Francois Hartlief, one of the organisers of the event said, “the Winter Ball is our first dance of the year, we usually host two dances a year – one in winter and one in summer, so our second dance will be a Summer Ball. The balls are held to help raise funds towards the completion of the stadium that we building in Westenburg, where all sporting codes can take place and where we can keep our children busy and off the streets”.

“This year’s Winter Ball event was our biggest event ever with over 250 guests attending.

“The Westenburg Rugby Club would like to thank everyone who attended the ball, Kozmiq from Pretoria- a live band that entertained us the whole evening, Chemical Reaction Dance group and we would like to thank our main sponsor, Clifford Ngakane, the general manager of Meropa Casino and Entertainment World.”

Many prizes were up for grabs for those in attendance with the main lucky draw prizes being weekend away at Marula Sun (sponsored by Meropa) and weekend away at the Protea Hotel Ranch Resort.

The Winter Ball was also attended by Westenburg world wrestling champions Terry and Lucious van Rensburg.

“We managed to raise R12 853,80 from the Winter Ball and we really hope that people will continue opening their hearts and giving to help complete the stadium,” said Hartlief.
