Hilarity ensues at Round Table event

POLOKWANE – The first A la Carte show in five years was presented by the Round Tablers at the Tom Naudé Technical High School hall last week.
Both Round Table clubs in the city, Round Table Impala 157 and Round Table Pietersburg 22, practised for the show for three months in order to put together a top-class show that everyone could enjoy completely.
The shows also included a special performance for senior citizens. Most of the different acts had the audience screaming with laughter.
There were mimics who impressed the audience with their skill and dancing women dressed in black and white suggesting a dancing barcode.
The juggler’s act impressed everyone – until the raw egg he was juggling broke, covering his face.
The hilarity continued with the four-man synchronised swimming team showing off their talent in the “swimming pool”.
“Miley Cyrus” looked good as she sang and performed her video, Wrecking Ball.
Then it was time for the two masters of ceremony (MCs), Gert Ehlers and Russel Gutche to perform. This they did by playing the piano with their trousers at their feet and their arms in the air.
The “Oudtshoorn Ostriches” also did their share of entertaining, using moves never seen before.
The show ended in style with a 2014 A la Carte Skouspel featuring every cast member. This may have been the end of the show, but it was not the end of the evening.
Attendees were given the opportunity to participate in the auctioning off of a repeat of any of the acts performed. Two of the acts, that of the MCs and the synchronised swimmers, returned to the stage for an encore. This unique auction raised R30 000 alone, while the event raised some R200 000.
All the proceeds will go to Pathways, as well as La Wiida Learning Centre (formerly known as the Arende Class of Akademie Reformia).
The cast thanked Tom Naudé Technical High School for allowing them to use the school hall free of charge.
They also thanked the people who tended bar, as well as all the girlfriends and wives of the Round Tablers.
