AFTER a break of a few years, Afro-soul musician Joe Nina is back with a mind blowing, though provoking new album.
Joe, who started singing at only eight-years-old, said he had to take a break from music for a while, because he needed time to reflect on his life and to rediscover himself.
Now he is back with the album, Back Together 4 Life.
The 15-track album took Joe two years to write and put together, is proof that experience is the greatest teacher in life. The mature sound and relevant issues that the music touches on makes for a pleasant listening experience.
“I produced the whole album myself with an expert helping hand from Thami Mtshali,” the pianist told Express.
Joe is a well-known musician in South Africa and even tried his hand at the film industry where he starred with the brilliant Rapulana Seiphemo in Jump the Gun. He is also known for his contribution to the development of kwaito and his mega hit, Abantu Bayakuluma, performed by Brenda Fassie.
Back Together 4 Life features songs like Lelo Langa and Ghetto Style featuring Village Pope Tshepo Tshola. The album also contains a moving tribute to Nelson Mandela, Celebrate Our Hero. This song features Bra Steve Kekana,Tshepo Tshola and Bonolo Mokubung.
Joe is also the founder of the Joe Nina Foundation and Killa Joe Records. He says he loves the fact that he can spend his birthday with less fortunate children every year as part of his community work.
