SOUTH African Music Award winning reggae artist, Colbert Mukwevho, will celebrate 39 years in the music industry with the recording of a live DVD, Lion and Son O' Lion at Bassline in Johannesburg on October 25.
SOUTH African Music Award winning reggae artist, Colbert Mukwevho, will celebrate 39 years in the music industry and 20 years of democracy with the recording of a live DVD, Lion and Son O’ Lion at Bassline in Johannesburg on October 25.
“We feel it is very important to provide live music and not just music from our studio. We have always been a live act and will always be. Highlights will come and go, but success is a journey, not a destination,” says Mukwevho.
The reggae legend will not only perform new songs, but will record a DVD of his greatest hits from his albums, which include songs such as Lord is My Rock from the album, Harley and The Rasta Family.
The show will be Mukwevho’s fourth at Bassline. His previous two, Tribute To Bob Marley concert and Lion and Son live DVD recording, were sold out shows.
Mukwevho introduced some of his new music on October 8 on e-tv’s Sunrise, where he performed London Town with Fraser, one of the artists who will join him at Bassline. Also joining him on the night will be his son and long-time collaborator, Percy “Postman” Mukwevho.
“This upcoming DVD will be more about my collaboration with the new talent that I have been working with. It will involve more artists than the previous one. We will showcase new songs and new energy. I will be showcasing my new talent,” he says.
The first 100 people to arrive at Bassline will receive Rudeboy Entertainment’s compilation of CDs for free, consisting of Colbert Mukwevho’s greatest hits and other artists from Rudeboy Entertainment.
