POLOKWANE – Nadia Lefember was crowned Miss Amplified 2014, while Jaycee Tomes was crowned Miss Amplified Junior 2014 during the Miss Amplified pageant, which was held at Westenburg Secondary School on Saturday.

There were 20 models who competed in this pageant hosted by four members of the Westenburg Danger Zone.

The models were divided in two categories, which included a junior category with models aged between six and 12 years and the senior category with models aged between 13 and 23 years.

The contestants had the opportunity to impress the judges in four different outfits that included, casual, traditional, swim and formal wear.

The other winners were:

• First princess (junior) – Alicia Charlie.

• Second princess (junior) – Leandra Jooste.

• First princess – Dejhane van Schalkwyk.

• Second princess – Ucadrian Mutre.

“Danger Zone is a youth empowerment organisation with the primary focus on gearing young people to pursue their true destinies in life.

“The organisation makes use of young people to reach and touch the lives of others by means of creative arts which include, dance, drama, music and more to address relevant issues such as HIV/aids, substance abuse, violence, teenage pregnancy, career development and others,” Kaitlynne Lion, a member of Danger Zone explained.

The money raised at the pageant is for the four members to join other Danger Zone members on a trip to Durban for an outreach project to make other young people aware of Danger Zone and also promote the Danger Zone bootcamp that will be held soon, which will target different challenges young people face in society daily.

“We would like to thank everyone who support the event and a special thank you to all the contestants for participating.

“A very special thanks to our sponsors, Goseame Open Fruit, Vegetable, Meat and Flower Market and Jacaranda FM,” Lion said.
