POLOKWANE – THE Sandton Technical College campus in Polokwane welcomed students with a fresher’s ball that was held at the Polokwane Game Reserve on Friday.
Campus manager, Gkabo Maenetja, said the event was an official welcome to students for the 2015 academic year.
“It was also a great platform for socialising and getting to know each other, and I hope seeing their lecturers relaxed will put the students at ease and they will be able to interact freely going forward,” she said.
Gideon Moroaswi, a lecturer, said although the event was for both old and new students, they wanted their new students not to be overwhelmed by the college environment.
Moroaswi said they enjoyed different activities including acts such as comedy, singing, poetry, dancing and DJs that kept everyone dancing throughout the day.
He said it was great to see everyone relaxed and having a good time.
Itumeleng Mokaila, student representative council president, said the event was a great opportunity for making friends. She said she had not even been aware that the school had so many students because they all come to campus at different times and it was great spending the day with them outside college. “Today is all about fun, people need to loosen up and enjoy themselves,” she said.
