Thobela FM scoops Best Radio Station Award
THOBELA FM scooped the Best Radio Station Award at the MTN Radio Awards ceremony held at the Sandton Convention Centre last Saturday.
LIMPOPO – THOBELA FM scooped the Best Radio Station Award at the MTN Radio Awards ceremony held at the Sandton Convention Centre last Saturday.
Apart from the best radio station award, the station was awarded the Best Weekend Radio Show, Ditumelo le bodumedi presented by Happiness Maake on Sundays and the Best Music Show Mekgokwane presented by Moloko Mashamaite on Saturdays.
The station also won the award for Best Afternoon Drive presented by Skhumbuzo Mbata on Ntshirogele from Mondays to Fridays, and the Best Breakfast Show, Ditlalemiso hosted by Sebasa Mogale and Monkoko Baby from Mondays to Fridays.
Thobela FM station manager, Moshongwa Matsena, said the station had been broadcasting since 1960.
The station was considered the best in Limpopo, with more than 3,4 million listeners, Matsena said.
She said the station had been consistently growing its listenership for the past years.
“We are thrilled to continue this legacy and we are humbled by, and thankful to, our listeners who have supported us throughout the years. The success of the radio station is, without a doubt, the result of a dedicated and hardworking team that ensures that we provide relevant, informative, educational and entertaining content to our listeners,” she said.
“We would like to thank the MTN Radio Awards for supporting the industry and recognising the impact our industry has on the country. The station is committed to disseminate meaningful and relevant content with utmost pride to its listeners.
“On May 1 this year, we will launch a new line up in order to continue offering listeners exciting and innovative content,” Matsena said.
