POLOKWANE – THE all-new Jeep Renegade expands the brand’s vehicle lineup, entering the growing small sports utility vehicle (SUV) segment, while staying true to the adventurous lifestyle Jeep is known for.

Guests had a chance to have a look at the all-new Jeep Renegade during the launch held at Mercurius Motors Polokwane on Friday.

This is an all-new Jeep, resulting from a combination of the design, functionality and off-road expertise of the US brand, as well as the style and the dynamic features that are signature cues of Italian cars all over the world.

In South Africa, the new Jeep Renegade will initially be available with the Limited trim levels, the Longitude and the Trailhawk, which are set to arrive in September.

The vehicle’s exterior has a purposeful look with rugged body forms and aggressive wheel-to-body proportion.

From any angle it reveals the distinctive design cues of the brand’s stylistic heritage, such as round headlights, signature seven-slot grille and trapezoidal wheel arches.

A large dual pane electric sliding glass roof provides customers with open-air freedom.

The Jeep Renegade will initially be powered by a fuel-efficient 103kW 1.4l MultiAir II Turbo petrol engine with stop and start featuring a six-speed manual transmission and a 4×2 configuration.

The Jeep Renegade provides ample on board comfort and infotainment and offers advanced technology features.

This includes the UConnect system with five inch or 6.5 inch touchscreen with navigation and Bluetooth with a hands-free phone. The Jeep Renegade Limited features a seven inch colour instrument cluster multiview display.

The Jeep Renegade features a unique steering wheel with a thick rim section. Integrated audio, voice and vehicle controls add a new level of convenience and sophistication. In front of the driver, the instrument cluster design includes a large analogue speedometer and tachometer.

The lower part of the dashboard neatly integrates climate controls, a dampened glove box and the media centre with USB, auxiliary input and 12-volt power connectivity for mobile devices.

The passenger seats are ergonomically designed to support the contour of the body during longer journeys and are trimmed with premium cloth or leather.

The Renegade includes a second-row 60/40-split seats, or for added convenience, 40/20/40-split seats with cargo area pass-through available.

The Jeep Renegade models are equipped with the 103kW 1.4l multi-air turbo featuring a six-speed manual transmission. This six-speed manual transmission is built and designed by Fiat Powertrain Technologies.

The petrol engine offering includes the 103kW 1.4l multi-air II turbo engine with Stop and Start function paired to a six-speed manual transmission. The 1.4l turbo multi-air II engine is the smaller displacement variant from Fiat Chrysler new family of four-cylinder petrol engines.

The 1.4l multi-air II turbo produces a maximum of 103kW at 5 500rpm and a torque range of 230Nm at 1 750rpm in combination with the six-speed manual transmission. The 1.4l multi-air II engine also incorporates Stop and Start technology.

Designed and engineered to deliver legendary Jeep capability, the new Renegade is the first small sport-utility vehicle (SUV) to use the all-new small-wide 4×4 architecture. With its fully independent suspension, the Renegade raises the bar in the small SUV segment with world-class on-road driving dynamics and passenger safety.
