POLOKWANE – Pepps Polokwane College learner, Anna Lennox emerged as the school’s top performer in the 2015 Gr 12 final exam with seven distinctions.

She achieved 83% for English home language, 80% for Afrikaans first additional language, 86% for business studies, 93% for life orientation, 84% for life sciences, 86% for mathematics, and 84% for physical science, with an average of 85%.Anna is preparing to go to Belfast, Northern Ireland, where she will volunteer as a nurse for six months. Then she plans to join the Mercy Ships volunteer programme. Mercy Ships is a company that makes use of hospital ships to offer medical aid to developing countries. She will volunteer on one of the ships from Madagascar.

When she returns to South Africa, she wants to start medical studies, either at the University of Cape Town or Stellenbosch – she is still undecided.

“I really look forward to the prospect of going to Belfast and later working on the Mercy Ship from Madagascar. The cold weather of Northern Ireland does not concern me as I prefer the cold. I hope it snows while I am there,” says an excited Anna.

Anna joined Pepps in her Gr 5 year and says she is very grateful to the teachers and the life values she learnt in her time there.

Her message of encouragement to this year’s Gr 12 learners is to study hard, do all assignments and take proper breaks when studying for examinations.

“I really appreciate the Pepps teachers’ dedication.

“I also want to thank my parents Pat and Sandy, who encouraged and supported me every step of my journey.”
