Growing up, what was your dream motorcycle?
Growing up, I had zero interest in bikes and preferred rally driving. My passion for biking only developed in my twenties.

What was the first motorcycle you rode?
It was a black and yellow Suzuki K5 750 cc.

Tell us more about the bike you currently ride.
It’s a blue Suzuki GSX-R1000 L1, which I bought In 2013 for R131 500.

What features stand out for you?
The Yoshimura R55 slip on, two-tone levers, custom airbrushed wheels, and a colour-changing race screen.

What’s the fastest speed you have ever pushed your bike to?
No comment (laughingly). We all need to stick to the 120 km/’h speed limit.

What is the furthest you have ridden on your Suzuki?
From Polokwane to Swaziland.

How much does it cost to fill the tank?
It has an 18 litre tank, so it costs about R200.

How much does a rear tyre cost?
Depends on the brand – between R2 500 and R3 400.

How much does a major service cost?
It can cost anything from R3 000 to R8 000.

What would you want your next bike to be?
Well, I don’t like the frenzy around the BMW RR, but at the moment it’s the only bike that stands out for me.

The general consensus among some is that bikers are arrogant on the road. What is your take on this?
They should get to know bikers better and remember bikers are motorists too.
