6-year-old victim of bullying now back home

The six-year-old boy who almost drowned in a stream in Ladanna recently at the hands of a bully has been discharged from hospital

POLOKWANE – JJ Pieterse was allegedly bullied by a seven-year-old boy on his way from school.

According to JJ’s mother, Annatjie, a friend of JJ’s arrived at their home to tell them that JJ sent her to inform them that he was being bullied at school.

“The little girl asked us to follow her as JJ was being beaten up again by this boy and needed help. We followed her to a field between Bulawayo Street and Nelson Mandela Drive, where there is a stream. As we arrived, we saw a man pull JJ out of the water. He told us when he arrived there, two boys were running down the street screaming that a boy had been killed,” she said.

She said the man ran to where the boys had directed him and saw JJ floating face down in the water, at which he immediately took him out of the water.

He was resuscitated and rushed to the Pietersburg Provincial Hospital where he spent the night for observation.

Annatjie said JJ would receive trauma counselling, and that he would be taken out of the school.

She added that they had not opened a case as they still awaited to meet with their legal representative.
