Khama invests in his modeling career

The ever stylish model, Khama Baloyi, says he has learnt to invest in his career through education in the industry

POLOKWANE – This in turn led to him being able to make better, more informed decisions regarding his career and has made a variety of opportunities available to him.

The 20-year-old from Seshego zone 8 is enrolled at the ReRite Modeling Academy in Polokwane as he wanted to equip himself with knowledge of how the industry operates and enhance his skills since he ventured into modeling last year.

He does not only invest in his education, he also invests in his personal appearance and spends as much time in the gym as possible to maintain a healthy physique.

“As a model it is important that I keep fit and maintain a great body so I am able to land as many modeling gigs as possible to get my name and face out there,” he explains.

He tells Review Bonus that he always takes fashion seriously and never leaves the house without being dressed to the nines if he can help it as you never know who you might meet while running your errands.

“You never know when you might meet potential employers, and it is my way of marketing myself. I love fashion and I enjoy looking the part.”

He tells us that although he was not keen on the idea of being a model at first, he was often encouraged by family and friends to pursue the career.

“They always told me I have good physical features and that I should try modeling. I was approached by a photographer on social media who asked to feature me in a photo shoot they were working on and this opened some doors for me in the modeling industry. I ended up enjoying it more than I thought, and I have never looked back since.”

After investing so much time and effort in his career, he says one of his goals is to become the face of an internationally acclaimed brand or fashion house and to someday work with German fashion designer, Karl Lagerfeld.

Khama says his journey so far has not been easy as the industry lacks support. He urges others to help unearth local talent and get them nationally or even internationally recognised.

He tells Bonus his look of choice for winter includes a blazer, boots, beanie and a man bag. Khama says an outfit is never complete without an accessory.
