Locally produced drama promises to rile and rattle audiences

The independently produced 13-episode drama set in Polokwane will launch on 3 December

LIMPOPO – A local production company is excited to present a 13-episode drama featuring popular actors and is set in Polokwane.

Online Action Production’s Mathata centres around a young girl from Seshego Zone 2 who faces various social and emotional challenges.

Producer, France Zamane Mokoena says Mathata was produced with the aim of promoting local talent and 90% local languages are used. According to Mokoena, producing the show was difficult as it was done independently, which means they had no financial backing from sponsors.

“I am very happy with what I have achieved so far,” says Mokoena. “My passion for drama started at an early age, I was in Gr 2 when I started acting in plays at school.”

He says he has a talent for producing and wanted to share it with others.

“We aim to produce motivational and inspirational films and dramas that seek to create positivity among the people of Limpopo. We want to unlock the hidden potential in human beings. We are trying to bring positive story telling based on human struggles and success which will inspire others.”

The Mmotong based company has produced short films and music videos. One of the company’s long-term plans is to branch out and launch a casting agency that will groom young aspiring actors and musicians.

The official launch of the drama will take place on 3 December in Polokwane at the corner of Grobler and Biccard Street.
