Plus-size is the new black

The founder of a local modelling agency hopes to promote plus-size models in an upcoming fashion show

POLOKWANE – Mojalefa Maboko, founder of Promote It Modelling Agency, believes it is time for a plus-size revolution in the fashion industry.

Mojalefa plans to host a Plus-Size Fashion Week in Limpopo next year as well as a Plus-Size Fashion Show in April which will coincide with the second annual Limpopo Fashion Weekend.

With more and more women embracing their curves, Mojalefa believes the market for plus-size models is becoming very popular.
“Promote It equipps plus-size models with the knowledge required to understand what is happening in the fashion industry so they are prepared to be a crucial part of the change,” he explains.
“We are looking for upcoming local designers to dress our models, it is open to everyone. We hope to see people of all races and genders participate and help make it a resounding success,” he says.
He concludes, saying he is hopeful that non-governmental organisations (NGO’s) and other sponsors will get involved with the project and encourages anyone who wishes to take part in the project to contact him at promoteitagency@gmail.com or 082 510 3639.
