[IN PICTURES] Sun Meropa celebrates 15 golden years

Sun Meropa celebrated its 15th birthday in authentic African style with a cultural dance group among the entertainment line-up on Monday night.

POLOKWANE – As part of the celebration, the casino gave away several prizes, with one lucky winner going home with a brand new Nissan NP 200 bakkie.

Sun Meropa General Manager, Peter Guthrie, said this momentous celebration would not have been possible without the support of the people in Limpopo and the entertainers who have chosen Sun Meropa as a venue for their showcases.

“This is a big milestone for us. We look forward to the next 15 years of providing top tier entertainment for all our guests. We are in the process of building a new 60-room, top class hotel which will be open to the public on 1 August. Another area getting some attention is our retail sections with upgrades happening at Magic Company. Along with that we want to add a fast food franchise and an internet cafe,” Guthrie said.

Apart from all these new developments, Sun Meropa is also involved with various charity projects and are in the process of supporting 15 schools with their educational needs.

“So far we support 10 schools and we are in discussions with the Limpopo Gambling Board to expand this number to 15 schools. We will provide these schools with laptops and projectors and provide training for the teachers. Altogether we aim to contribute R1,275 million towards education,” he added.

The winner of the Nissan NP 200, Moshito Mothiba from Seshego Zone 1, was heartily congratulated on his prize by Sun Meropa personnel and guests.

“I began coming to Sun Meropa when they first opened their doors in Polokwane and I am thankful my support has paid off in me winning this beautiful bakkie.

This prize comes at just the right time as I planned to start a small business but was in dire need of transportation. This will help me a lot to further my dreams,” an elated Mothiba said.
