Natural leader has sights set on growing society

With his sights set on offering hope and inspiration to the youth in his community, 24-year-old Kgaugelo Kganaga wants to use his listening and problem-solving skills to uplift them.

POLOKWANE – He strongly believes the youth must not feel deteriorated by life’s challenges but strive to always lead a positive lifestyle.

Kgaugelo decided to study a bachelor of social science in psychology at the North West University Mahikeng campus as it was what he believed best complemented his personality and character traits.

“Aside from being a good listener and problem-solver, I have an interest in understanding the causes of various challenges people face in life. I have an ability to build strong relationships with people and I am not judgmental when it comes to people’s challenges. Pursuing a career in social science had afforded me great opportunity to enhance those abilities and skills as well as explore my purpose in life. During my studies I participated in several student programmes such as being a peer educator, student facilitator, counsellor and career guidance facilitator,” he explained.

Living by the quote ‘It does not matter how slowly you go, as long as you do not stop’ by Confucius, Kgaugelo said he chose to use the skills and knowledge he acquired during his studies to contribute towards the betterment of society.

“After I graduated I decided to come home to Polokwane where I volunteered my skills and experience at the Botlokwa Special School for intellectually impaired learners.”

He is doing his honours in psychology at the University of Venda and through this he wants to give another message to the youth – that success has no time constraints.
