Childhood game inspires clothing line

Tamati Soso is a name used by most black South Africans for tomato sauce but it is also popularly known as a childhood game played by young boys and girls in rural areas.

LIMPOPO – Tshepho Mamabolo (29), a musician and graphic designer from Solomondale, established a clothing brand named Tamati SOSO under his company We Go Large Media.

“The brand was inspired by the lifestyle and the originality of South Africa sons and daughters of the soil, the main purpose it to take the new generation youth back to roots of kasi street culture and sustain it through fashion,” he explained.

He added since the establishment of the brand in 2017, he managed to hire two people to deal with the marketing side of business and he has taught them a bit about fashion and how to gain a foothold in the market.

“The brand Tamati SOSO deals with caps, bucket hats, T-shirts and hoodies. I design for both men and women and my main focus is the youth,” Tshepho said.

He added his biggest aspiration is to see the brand on the international market as well as having people believe in and wear his brand.
