Charity cycle tour puts spotlight on children

Representatives of Meropa Casino and Entertainment World handed over much-needed supplies valued at R35 000 to Ngwana House recently.
The donation included baby formula, cots, nappies and office furniture and were made possible thanks to the Sun City to Table Bay Charity Cycle Tour 2017.
The cyclists, as part of this annual cycle tour, ride about 216 kilometres a day to cover the full distance to Cape Town in a week, stopping off along the way in different towns. During their gruelling 1 749 kilometre journey, they donate money and products to charity organisations in these towns.
According to Mothomoni Mapela, socio-economic development practitioner at Meropa, Ngwana House was selected as a beneficiary because the home needs the support of caring corporate citizens in order to keep operating. “As a non-profit organisation, Ngwana House relies heavily on the support it receives from the public. We wanted to help alleviate some of the burden the home faces in caring for the children.”
“They do invaluable work in caring for abandoned and neglected children in our community. We are pleased to be able to lend a hand to a wonderful team that has taken on a tremendous responsibility to care for the young children.”
