Use these make up brushes to get that flawless look

Applying makeup is a skill that requires a lot practice as well as the correct tools to use to acquire that perfect face beat as a final result.

POLOKWANE – REVIEW spoke to Sewela Moshabi, a self taught makeup artist, model and owner and founder of Moshabi Makeup brand from Polokwane, who has applied makeup on some prominent people as well as celebrities, to find out which tools are most important when applying makeup and how they are used.

“Applying make requires a lot of practice and skills, it may look easy to apply it but really it is not. I have lots of practice myself as well as lots of make up tutorial workshops that led to me being good in what I do now, I am now confident in my work as a makeup artist,” she said.

Moshabi gave the Review hints on which brushes (the ones which she uses most frequently) are needed for that perfect face beat makeup finish look.

“Makeup brushes are very important when applying makeup, they differ and therefore have different uses,” she explained.

  1. For making a statement with your eye makeup, Sewela says that one must use the Lash Brow Groomer Brush which is perfect for applying mascara products or grooming brows. This brush can also be used to separate lashes after mascara has been applied, “This will give your eyes that pop,” she explained.
  2. The Fan brush, “This type of brush acquires its name because of its flat shape which allows for even and softer makeup application, making it an ideal tool for gently sweeping bronzing powder, illuminator, or even tinted moisturizer on the face. They mostly used to blending in makeup shades from powders, to shadows and bronzers in one stroke,” she added on.
  3. Another type of brush is the Concealer Brush, which is used for precise application of foundation and concealer. “I usually use this particular brush to pat in concealer or foundation onto the skin so that I achieve that maximum full coverage on problem areas because it can be quite a challenge to apply foundation using just your fingers as you need to pat it in a way that it does not fade out,” she explained.
  4. To achieve best eyeshadow application, Sewella says that the All Over Eye Shadow Brush is ideal to use by simply just applying the eyeshadow across the eyelid in a windshield wiper motion to bring out colour.
  5. The Powder Brush is used to apply the powder to achieve that matte finish look. To use the self taught makeup artist advises people to just dust the bristle with powder gently over the face.

Brushes and brands differ as well as texture and it is entirely up to ones preference to select which brand they would to use.
