Celebrations all round as Thobela FM turns 58
Thobela FM continues to grow from strength to strength and the provincial-based Sepedi broadcaster celebrated its 58th birthday on Friday, 1 June.
POLOKWANE – Hundreds of listeners attended the station’s celebration party at Nirvana in Polokwane, getting the opportunity to mingle with their favourite presenters.
According to the station’s management, the station will embark on several celebrations across the province throughout June to celebrate the occasion.
The Station Manager, Moshongwa Matsena, said while the station continues to grow, it will work hard to claim back its more than three million listenership.
“As a station we are grateful our listeners across the country continue to shower us with the support we need,” said Matsena.
She told CV the birthday celebration was not only for the station but also to honour their listeners.
“We are happy that after so many years of broadcasting, the station is still among the best radio stations in the country. The station belongs to its listeners and therefore it will continue to deliver everything they expect from us.”
Matsena said they will continue to remain relevant towards their listeners to ensure their listenership continues to grow.
“This celebration comes at a time where the station has recently introduced new presenters and we believe this will also serve as a warm welcome to them,” she added.
SABC Provincial General Manager, Tshamano Makuya, said Thobela FM’s birthday is a milestone in the entertainment industry.
“The radio positively continues to grow due to the hard work by both women and men within the station,” said Makuya.
“The station is among our best performing stations and we believe a lot can still be done to add to this success.”
