10 cool TV Dads that made watching television entertaining

As we celebrate Fathers Day, we pay tribute to all the TV dads that have been making us wish he had them as our fathers or making us appreciate the fathers we have.

POLOKWANE – We, here at the Review, appreciate a great sitcom that the whole family can watch together, so we decided to come up with a list of the coolest TV Dads.

Homer Simpson

He’s bald, he’s crude and he’s probably the most recognised tv dad in history. Homer Simpson, from The Simpsons fits the American working class stereotype with his hot-tempered, obese, rule-neglecting, clumsy, lazy, heavy drinking, ignorant and idiotic self. But we cannot help but love this father because he is hilarious and never ceases to prove how much he loves his family.

 

Michael Kyle

Michael Kyle from My Wife and Kids is one dad that you don’t mess with unless you want to be humiliated. He is known for his lack of sensitivity and egotistic tendencies which see him in competition with strangers . His methods of sorting out disagreements with his teenage children involves embarrassing them but in the end, we cant help but love him because everything he does is one in a funny way and is often in the interest of his children.

Andre “Dre” Johnson

Dre, from Blackish is a sensitive, black culture conscious father who is always up to something or going through something. He is an outrageous father but you can’t help but roll on the floor laughing as he navigates through daily life. What stands out is his love for his wife despite his dislike of her hippie parents.

Septimus “Oubaas” Van Zyl

Septimus “Oubaas” Van Zyl from 7de Laan was a father figure to everybody at the Heights. Although he often lost his train of thought and shared “a few winged words” that went on forever, he was a true romantic and loved his ‘bride’ (before he cheated) but nonetheless, he was a well of wisdom and could be trusted to confide in.

George Lopez

George Lopez from George Lopez (a sitcom), is a father who has a painful past and tends to be overprotective of his children. He often ends up in misunderstandings with his children who want freedom but he deals with it in a graceful manner

Robby Stewart

Robby Stewart from Hannah Montana plays a single father to also Hannah Montana as well as her manager. He balances being a successful country music singer while also making his daughter a star, while protecting her. He is dedicated to putting his children first and how can we not love a father like that?

Uncle Phil

Uncle Phil from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air is a big teddy bear with bank for days! This serious disciplinarian is always making sure everything is done by the book. He has his moments where he lets his hair down but he always has to be on high alert with a trouble making nephew like Will Smith.

Archie Moroka

Archie Moroka was a patriarch of the Moroka family in Generations. Although he could be ruthless business-wise, he did everything he could to build a legacy for his family.

Christopher Julius Rock II

Julius from Everybody Hates Chris is that father who counts every penny. He is frugal and doesn’t want to see a cent wasted. Although he clearly loves his family, he always finds ways around having to pay for anything

Phil Dunphy

Phil Dunphy from Modern Family is an awkward dad who is under the impression that he is cool and relevant much to the embarrassment of his children. He often has some hilarious things to say in an effort to prove his coolness.
