Bassist player strikes the right notes towards his dream

Mogau Mamabolo is set to wow the audience at the Charle Bass Single Launch this Friday.

POLOKWANE – Self taught bassist player, Mogau Mamabolo is set to wow the audience this Friday at the Charle Bass Single Launch.

Mogau spoke to the REVIEW and said that music has been in his blood since he was a child living in Westenburg. “Music has been my passion since childhood. I remember I used to run to a family friend’s house in a neighbouring  street just so that I could play with their keyboard piano,” he explained.

“My menor, Skhwela, taught me the basics of being a bass player, but I only started playing music professionally in 2009. At that time it was not a profession that I wanted to pursue, however, when I started playing the bass guitar at church I decide to challenge myself to learn everything I could and to prefect my skills,” he said.

The music enthusiast said that he inspired by Mr Musa Manzini (KZN born bassist player and jazz musician) and Mr Fana Zulu who has worked closely with the late Bra Hugh Masekela.

“Jazz is soothing and helps to relieve stress. Playing my musical instruments has taught me to stay focused on what I am working on so that I can reach my goals. I believe that everyone should work towards reaching their satisfactory goals in life,” Mogau said.

“My dream is for my talent to be recognized worldwide, but I am happy to start right here at home. I want to help heal the nation with my music.”

He added that his most highlight of being in the music industry was meeting the great Victor Wooten when he came to South Africa. “It was like being in bassists heaven,” he said.

The Charle Bass Single launch is set to take place this Friday (6 July) at the Polokwane Library Gardens and Mogai invites residents to come out and support the local musicians who are trying to get their big break in the music industry,” he concluded.
