Music duo makes magic
When Kgodisho 'Mac Toffie' Maja and Kisslon 'Kiss' Ramohlale found themselves in the same class in college, neither of them had an idea that it was the dawn of magic.
POLOKWANE – Mac Toffie brings the rhymes and Kiss produces the beat Mac Toffie rhymes to. The chemistry between the two is undeniable and given the necessary opportunities, they can be the next breakout kids of the rap game. They met in 2017 when they were at Capricorn College for TVET.

“I was busy writing the songs down when Kiss approached me and asked whether I was a musician. I told him that I’m a rapper and he asked if I had a producer, which I didn’t. Kiss gave me a sample of beats which I listened to and liked; that was the beginning of the partnership we have formed,” Mac Toffie explained.
Kiss added he was not a beatmaker, he was previously a DJ but then he stopped and just made music because it is something that he loves.
“It took me a whole week to create a beat that I would gladly allow Mac Toffie to listen to because I was not yet accustomed with his flow. I had to learn from scratch,” Kiss explained. He added some of the challenges he faces as a beatmaker is that his equipment and the software at his disposal doesn’t allow him to create the quality work he would like to. It hasn’t been an easy road for the duo though as they have had to deal with knocking on doors and getting accustomed to not hearing the response they need.

The cost of equipment has also been another factor that is stifling their progress but this duo is not ready to give up just yet. “We will continue to work hard until we become a household name. We make music for everybody, young and old. We talk about issues that people can relate to,” Mac Toffie added. They plan to keep recording music and doing what they love.
Their biggest wish is to one day hear their music on radio because that will be the sign they are looking for to show them they were not mistaken in pursuing this career path. “We are aiming beyond the stars and we will succeed. Our determination to succeed is stronger than the obstacles we face,” Kiss concluded.
