Keep your kids creative over the July holiday

It is officially the mid-year holiday break for state schools and many stay-at-home parents feels clueless on how to keep their children busy.

LIMPOPO -One of Mokopane’s local daycare centres, Speelparadys Naskool, has many activities up their sleeve this vacation. Louisa van Niekerk, owner, says that they will be doing activities like science experiments, a chef competition, fashion shows, play board games, have a movie marathon and more until Tuesday, 17 July when the schools reopen. Mini paratrooper
What you’ll need:
• Dinner-sized napkin, material or plastic bag
• Sticky tape
• A punch
• Yarn
• Scissors
• Paratrooper or army man toy
How to make it:
Start by cutting four pieces of yarn all the same length (about 30 cm). Open your cloth all the way. Reinforce the corners with clear tape. This will make it sturdy and resist ripping. Punch holes in about the same place in each corner. Tie the yarn to the holes. Also tape the ends down. Now tie two strands on each side
Slime
What you’ll need:
• Art and Craft Glue
• Glitter glue
• Borax
• Water
• Food colouring
How to make it:
Add 1 tsp of borax to a pouring jug with 1 cup of boiling water. Mix and let it cool. Add 1 tbsp of glue into your bowl. Add 1 ml of food colouring to the bowl. Add 2 ml water to the bowl and stir until the glue becomes runny. Add borax mixture ml by ml while stirring.You should see the mixture stiffening as you add the 5th ml of borax. Pick up the mixture. Rainbow bubble snakes
What you’ll need:
• Empty plastic water bottle
• Duct tape or rubber band
• A miss matched sock
• Dish soap
• Food coloring
How to make it:
Cut of the bottom of the water bottle. Slide the sock over the bottom of the bottle. Use duct tape or rubber band to secure the sock. Pour some dish soap into a shallow container with a little bit of water and gently mix. Dip the sock covered bubble blower into the solution and gently blow to form colorful bubbles.
