Hard work has paid off for 24-year-old Baldwin Kay
Kholofelo Baldwin Hlongwane, who goes by the name Baldwin Kay, has been nominated for an award in the best jazz category at the Limpopo Music Awards (LIMA) for his song Ke Mmone
POLOKWANE – The song is about an African woman who appears to be a career woman, yet she also lives a village lifestyle.
The young singer-songwriter, recording artist and performer from Mookgophong, started performing music in 2008 and he has grown tremendously as he can be spotted at many events around Limpopo. Famous for his acoustic guitar, Baldwin continues to wow fans as he grows as a household name.

Baldwin said it’s a privilege to be recognised in Limpopo’s very own awards. “I’m hoping to set an example to my peers and show them it’s possible. I’m doing a tour in and outside our province and so far I have visited Polokwane, Ga-Molepo, Tzaneen, Modimolle and Rapotokwane to mention a few. It’s always my craft that captures people’s hearts. I believe my song, Ke Mmone, is a God-given song as people hear it once and they are mesmerised,” he said.
He is currently busy with a follow-up single called Gauteng which he plans to release soon. It talks about fathers who left their families to work in Gauteng and never returned home with their families back home living in poverty.
