Getting to know teenage hip-hop artist Tshepiso
With his stage name meaning 'to do something right before it needs to be done by someone else, young hip-hop Artist Tshepiso 'Youde' Molepo (16) aspires to achieve bigger and better things in the industry.
POLOKWANE – Tshepiso is a Gr 10 learner at Northern Academy and says since he started he has successfully recorded about four tracks. “All my tracks have been ‘mastered and mixed’,” he tells Review.
Having the love and passion for hip hop music, Tshepiso decided to enter the music industry to prove to himself that he can do better than any other rapper in the music industry. “This does not clash with my school work because I usually do my music during the weekend and school holidays. That’s when I get time to go to the studio to record my singles and get creative,” he said.
Back in primary school, Tshepiso used class desks to create beat and rapped in front of the class. “Even though I mumbled at that time I knew some day, some how, I would make it in the music industry.”
As a young artist himself he hopes to inspire other young artists to focus on what they do, but to never not lose focus on their education. “As an artist you should create your own time and space and remember who you’re doing it for. Most importantly, know your target market,” he advised.
Tshepiso has performed at a couple of events in Polokwane, including the Westenburg Bashes.
Tshepiso concludes that it’s extremely hard to break in the music industry, because as a teenager, no one would take you serious especially looking where you came from.
