Use Face of Polokwane pageant to shine, says Maite Makgato

The pageant is open to residents of Polokwane and surrounds.

POLOKWANE – Now in its sixth year of existence, the Face of Polokwane pageant by Maite Makgato of Rose Ite Creations aims to groom models by preparing them for bigger pageants.

They offer a training stage and help models understand what judges expect in similar pageants.

According to Makgato, models who enter are mentored by her, and this year’s winners will automatically qualify for the SA Model of the Year event, to be held later this year.

After five years of hosting the pageant, she says she is still motivated by the number of entries she receives every year.

“This year, we will commemorate Tata Nelson Mandela, which is something we have not done before. Be ready to be blown away,” she said.

Some of her proudest moments, though, came from grooming models who went on to compete in international pageants.

“The entry fee is affordable and those who are unable to pay, are given the opportunity to sell tickets to cover their fees. The models also benefit from the tickets sales as they get 50% of the money which can help them prepare for the big day,” she explains.

The Face of Polokwane pageant caters for men and women, and this year’s pageant comprises three categories: teen, Miss and Mr.

The pageant is open to residents of Polokwane and surrounds.

Entries close on 30 June, with the main event held at the Polokwane Library Auditorium on 20 July.

Winners will be expected to undertake various charity projects.
