Limpopo LGBTQI communities to fly their flags high in Vhembe
You don't have to be part of LGBTQI community to show your support - Umpha Princess Murulane, chairperson and director of Vhembe LGBTQI+

LIMPOPO – Umpha Princess Murulane says Vhembe Pride event is a way to trying to include Vhembe in the pride community.
She says Vhembe is one of the places where the LGBTQI+ community has not been fully accepted and she is hoping that will change after the event. 26-year-old Umpha is the current chairperson and director of Vhembe LGBTQI+. She is also a proud mother and is engaged to her female partner.
According to Wikipedia, pride refers to a humble and content sense of attachment toward one’s own or another’s choices and actions, or toward a whole group of people, and is a product of praise, independent self-reflection, and a fulfilled feeling of belonging. She says this definition represents what she is hoping to achieve. “We are not seeking for people to love us, just to accept us in their communities.”
Umpha adds that in the past years she has seen many people from the LGBTQI+ communities suffer at the hands of their family, friends, and even employers. She runs a non-registered organisation from her own pocket and works alongside the Tshitshite Foundation and Tshilidzini Hospital. “I have at times had to accommodate people who were chased away from home, or lost their jobs and I took them.”
She conlcudes that she does not do this for her own benefit but for the community at large.
