Limpopo’s cream of the crop to be awarded at LIMA
Artists walked down the red carpet at Coco Affairs on Thursday night, during the third Limpopo Music Awards (LIMA) nominees announcement.
POLOKWANE – The third Lima will be held on 19 October at Meropa Casino and Entertainment World.
According to Lima’s Chairperson of the board, Tebogo ‘DJ Cappuccino’ Maswanganyi, Lima wants to establish Limpopo artists and help them get promoted.
“We want to show the people how proud we are to be Limpopian. This project no longer belongs to the Lima board, it is the project for the people of Limpopo. If you are a fashion designer, graphic designer, work in tourism or you sell something, this is the right platform for you. The aim of Lima is to transform the image of the music industry,” said Maswanganyi.
He said the driving force behind this idea was their drive to develop and expose art, especially music, in the province.
“We want to give local artists the chance to shine on stage. Our future plans include forming a collaboration between different cultures. We want to discover the talent in our musicians, we want to bring the talents from the villages and showcase them here in the city.”
The CEO of the Lima, Molato Phakwago congratulated the nominees. “We are proud of this year’s nominees. They are the cream of the crop. Lima remains committed to the cause of celebrating, nurturing and uplifting Limpopo’s talent. We look forward to the finale next month where we promise an extravaganza of a night.”
He thanked the Department of Arts and Culture for their support and advice. He also thanked the Limpopo Tourism Agency and small business operators in the province.
