SEMA – A legacy to last
Baldwin Kay and King Monada dominated the Sepedi Music Awards (Sema) nominations during the launch of the awards, held at Kings Hotel and Gallery recently.
LIMPOPO – Kay was nominated for Afro-pop and best Afro soul, while King Monada was nominated as best khelo music and artist of the year.

The awards boast 20 music categories with over 100 nominees, which included song of the year and the esteemed legend of the year, which will not be voted for.

According to Sema CEO, Matodzi Makananisa, organising the awards would not have been possible had it not been for the support of ordinary people who love music and the arts.
“The Sepedi Music Awards are a lasting legacy which must be preserved for future generations, as music is one of the greatest digital tools to document and preserve this part of our culture and heritage,” said Makananisa.
He said the awards will have a generational impact on the Ba-Pedi Nation.
