Let colour guide your child to discover a new hobby

It’s not too early, or too late, to get your child interested in starting a new hobby. Use this colour guide to get inspired.

The colour your child’s drawn to is a great way to figure out which hobbies and activities are best suited for their personality. Find out what it means if your child is attracted to blue, red, orange, and more…

Your child is happy and carefree: They are balanced and centred, their relationships with friends and siblings are on stable ground, and they enjoy school. When all these things are in harmony, it is a perfect time for your child to take up a new challenge and expand their horizons.

The colour to which your child is attracted at this point in their life is a good indication of what hobby, activity, or new discovery will best suit them. Encourage your child to take a minute and think about the colour that has recently caught their eye. Now let them choose a new and rewarding experience.

Red: Get rid of excess energy in a constructive manner

Help your child be more active! Encourage them to take up an adventure sport like mountain biking, skateboarding, surfing, and even rock climbing. Whatever sport your child fancies, always ensure they are safe and age-appropriate.

Orange: Express their creativity

When your child makes or creates something it helps to improve self-worth issues. Give them the opportunity to take up pottery, art or mosaic classes, flower arranging, or even cake decorating. Let them make their own jewellery or candles.

Yellow: Exercise and stimulate their brain

If yellow is your child’s go-to colour, they may be interested in learning a new language, musical instrument, or signing up for a creative writing course. Green: Bring balance and harmony into your child’s life Help your child grow a herb or vegetable garden, or just beautify your home with a lovely lush oasis. Spending time in nature will connect your child to nature.

Blue: Use their voice

If your child is drawn to the colour blue, it could be a sign to enrol them into a book club where they can discuss their favourite books with like-minded children.

Indigo: Get introspective

Help your child learn how to meditate to find stillness and tap into their subtle senses. Your child might enjoy yoga classes for kids.

Violet: Do something for the greater good

Allow your child to help out at the soup kitchen of your church or community centre. Volunteer at an animal shelter, children’s home, or old age home. Being in service for the good of all brings your child’s body, mind, and spirit together.
