With just a few materials and some creativity, your little one can create their own unique desk accessory.

Are you tired of finding scattered pens and pencils all over your child’s study desk? Well, we have a delightful solution that combines creativity and organisation – transform ordinary toilet rolls into adorable animal pen holders!

This is a fantastic craft project that not only keeps things tidy but also sparks your child’s imagination.

Get ready to roll up your sleeves and embark on a fun crafting journey with your little one!

List of items you will need

  • Empty toilet rolls (as many as you’d like to make)
  • Coloured cardboard
  • Googly eyes
  • Craft glue
  • Scissors
  • Markers or crayons
  • Decorative items (optional): pom-poms, pipe cleaners, feathers, etc.

How to make it

  1. Gather all the necessary materials, including empty toilet rolls, coloured cardboard, googly eyes, craft glue, scissors, markers or crayons, and any additional decorative items you’d like to use.
  2. Choose an animal theme for your pen holder. It could be a lion, a giraffe, a panda, or any animal your child loves. Let their imagination run wild!
  3. Take an empty toilet roll and measure the height of it using coloured cardboard. Cut out a strip of paper that matches the height and wrap it around the toilet roll, gluing the ends together.
  4. Use additional construction paper to create the animal’s features. For example, cut out triangles for ears, circles for snouts, or zigzag shapes for a lion’s mane. You can also spread the animal’s body out over three or four toilet rolls (as shown in our featured image). Get creative!
  5. Glue the animal’s features onto the wrapped toilet roll. Add googly eyes to bring the animal to life.
  6. Let your child personalise their creation by colouring and decorating it with markers, crayons, or any additional decorative items they desire. They can use feathers for wings, pom-poms for noses, or pipe cleaners for tails.
  7. Allow the glue to dry completely before using the animal pen holder to store pens, pencils, and other stationery items. Your child’s desk will look adorable and organised!
