DA announces Polokwane ward candidates for November election

The DA has announced its ward candidates for Polokwane Municipality, including incumbents and two newcomers.

POLOKWANE – In preparation for the municipal elections scheduled for November 4, the DA announced its ward candidates for Polokwane Municipality on Friday.

Incumbent councillors Jacques Joubert (Ward 23), Mariette Pretorius (Ward 22), Johan Retters (Ward 21) and newcomers Gaby Buys (Ward 19) and Suzanne Malan (Ward 20) confirmed that they are ready to serve the residents of the city for the coming term of five years, regardless of their political affiliations.

How the council is made up

The Polokwane municipal council currently has 90 councillors, of which 45 are directly elected, while 45 are proportional representatives.

The proportional councillors (PR) are nominated by their political parties in accordance with a quota determined by the IEC and advised by the total number of votes that the parties won in the whole municipal area.
