It was a night of festivities when Capricorn High School Grade 8 learners took to the stage to entertain their parents and schoolmates with different activities during a concert which was meant to officially welcome Grade 8 learners to the school last Thursday night.
About 300 learners participated in three categories being poetry, dance and acting. According to Cappies captain Kgabo Tefu, the night was for the Grade 8 learners to have fun and showcase their talents on stage. He said this was an annual gathering organised by the Representative Council of Learners (RCL) and matric board to officially welcome Grade 8s and to make them feel at home.
He further said the celebration was a success and learners displayed best moves on the stage which left the crowd asking for more. Tefu indicated that the concert was also to raise funds for the school and they were delighted that everything went accordingly.
“Organising the concert was not an easy task. It was a learning curve for Cappies leaders and we learnt to work together as a team,” he stated, adding that participants enjoyed themselves and they were asking for one last concert.
Tefu thanked everyone who made the concert a success and reiterated that it was unfortunate the school couldn’t host two concerts for the same grade in one year.
