BREAKING NEWS – Educator assaults learners with a fan belt

Department of Education’s Rakwadu Circuit manager, Mashatole Sethaba is expected to meet with Modubatse Secondary School principal and learners later today (Thursday) following an incident that happened yesterday at the school where Grade 12 learners were allegedly assaulted with a fan belt by one of the educators for making noise during school hours.
One of the parents who wished to remain anonymous told Polokwane Observer that learners returned home with swollen hands after the incident, adding that learners revealed that this kind of conduct happens frequently.
A video provided by the parent shows the educator beating learners with a fan belt with a female learner apparently screaming from pain in the background.
Rakwadu Circuit Manager and former Modubatse Secondary School principal, Mashatole Sethaba said he was made aware of the incident by one of the parents and requested the current principal to investigate. He indicated that the findings confirmed the incident and reiterated that such acts are not allowed in any school. Sethaba said he was going to meet with the principal, learners and the educator in question later today (Thursday) to talk about what had transpired. Read the full story in next week’s education.
