John Edmond performance summons nostalgia

Former citizens of the then Rhodesia, now known as Zimbabwe, and servicemen alike were captivated by John Edmond’s performance presented by the Memorable Order of Tin Hats (Moth) of Botha Shellhole in Polokwane on Saturday evening.
The entertainer took his audience down memory lane with an array of folk and country music as well as songs that were popular with former servicemen.
Harleen Idensohn and Sue Malan enjoyed having a sing along to many of Edmond’s songs and the rest of the audience was not far behind them.
According to Clinton Scott and his children Daniel and Amy, they really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the evening.
Moth Old Bill Ben Smit said the evening was a huge success.
He further said that the proceeds of the evening would go towards supporting old age home Peacehaven, which offers inexpensive housing to needy former soldiers and their families.
“We have many more such evenings planned so be sure not to miss them,” he said, mentioning that Wynand du Toit, former Angolan prisoner of war and now a writer and successful rice farmer in the Congo, will be paying a visit to the Moth Botha Shellhole on Wednesday 11 April.
