Just over 300 cyclists take on Lentetrap 2017

Overcast weather conditions and an ice cold wind did not scare enthusiastic cyclists from participating in the annual Lentetrap MTB 2017 hosted in conjunction with Polokwane Pedallers Cycling Club (PPCC) at the Polokwane Game Reserve on Saturday.
A total of 309 cyclists entered the event which was described by PPCC secretary and organiser Yolandi Bell as successful with only positive feedback received from riders.
Participants had a choice of a 10 km fun ride, 35 km halfmarathon and a 70 km marathon.
Ruben van Ree was the overall winner of the 10 km male open category after finishing in a time of 37:57. Leandri van Huys­steen was first in the female open category in a time of 43:55.
In the 35 km Richard Lambert claimed overall victory as well as first place in the junior men’s category in a time of 1:20.10 while the first overall woman was Anna Elisa Gutierrez in a time of 1:29.59.
Mario Ferreira left no room for other cyclists in the 70 km after completing first overall in the men’s category in a time of 2:42.57.
Liesl Lourens took the first position on the podium as overall woman in a time of 3:03.25.
