Colourful costumes contributed to high spirits when learners of Jabez Christian Academy commemorated World Orphans week at the school last Friday.
The dressing code was ‘wow’ and participating learners contributed R10 that will be donated to an orphanage still to be identified.
Principal of the academy, Elana Erasmus said they had celebrated World Orphans Week for the last five years. “The event aims to create awareness for the plight of children who do not have parents and to reinforce the Christian principle that none of us are orphans because we all have a Father in Heaven,” Erasmus explained.
Learners also staged a creative show in the school hall to entertain their peers and to amplify the joy of having caring parents.
