Local player wins exciting paintball challenge

It was clear that the pain associated with paintball was a minor factor to players who participated in the Predator Paintball One-on-One Challenge on Saturday.
The challenge lured 22 players of which five were from Pretoria. Local player Zander Janse van Rensburg claimed victory after making it through the speedball round as well as the Wild Village round. Andries de Lange, also a local player was crowned as runner-up.
With facial protection compulsory, serious competitors dressed in camouflage while others braved the course in a denim and T-shirt only. Marshals also had a hard time dodging bullets but had to stay alert to umpire the game.
The speedball round consisted of two players armed with a maximum of 120 bullets battling it out in a time limit of one minute. One shot anywhere on the body meant an elimination. Players then continued to the Wild Village consisting of a more difficult course with much more obstacles and hiding places to compete for the win.
They were also allowed a maximum of 120 bullets and a shot to the head would send a player to the bench resulting in the final to be played between Janse van Rensburg and De Lange.
