Shoppers attending the reopening of the newly renovated Pick n Pay outlet in Savannah Mall last Thursday were pleasantly surprised by the store’s ultramodern, new look.
The supermarket underwent a makeover to adapt to the company’s new ‘Next Generation’ store concept, Pick n Pay Regional Marketing Manager Karen Jordaan explained.
Upon entering the store one immediately realises that the lighting has been adapted to highlight the different sections in store that are now separated. These sections include wine, tea and coffee and household items.
Jordaan explained that the above-mentioned sections are dedicated to display the items in an attractive way and that alcoves have now been added to display the items.
The store also boasts wider aisles, better layout and space usage and top of the line refrigerators imported from Italy to enhance customer experience, according to Jordaan. She added that the store was designed to promote the fresh produce sections as shoppers would notice upon entering the store.
The re-opening event was led by Henry Maluleke, Pick n Pay Regional Manager, who thanked all the staff and contractors that participated in the revamping process.
Nuno Pires, Pick n Pay Corporate Stores General Manager welcomed the guests to the first ‘Next Generation’ store in Polokwane. He said not only the store has been changed but the employees’ attitude towards the customers has also been improved to ensure customers have a wonderful experience when shopping.
He further stated that for companies to last 50 years like Pick n Pay did, they needed to be able to do three things namely, be agile enough to make changes, be able to adapt to changing economy and to take pressure that comes from competition.
After the formalities, the Pietersburg Comprehensive School (PCS) drum majorettes squad entertained the guests to a charming performance after which Thembilsile Mabunda handed the school a Pick n Pay gift voucher worth R1 500 and thanked them for the excellent performance and attendance. Modikwa Mohlale who coaches the squad said they felt very honoured to have been invited to perform at the event.
Polokwane Observer asked some of the shoppers how they had experience the new store and Julia Mabyana said that she liked the improved, modern layout and that she enjoys the special prices while Lestrina Modiba said that the shop is big and well organised and that she enjoyed the shopping.
The supermarket has opening specials on selected products until 25 June.
