R10 000 to help reach a dream

Not even her biggest dream of trading on the Forex (foreign exchange) market could have prepared Rose Khozi (26) for what real life had in store on Tuesday when a group of women who trade in Forex presented her with R10 000 that will enable her to start trading.
Speaking on behalf of the women, who call themselves Table 10 Forex Trading, Maria Bongwe and Mutsharini Dau said they were part of a group of women who trade in Forex and want to see young graduates flourish by training them.
“There is so much unemployment in our country. In the United States of America university students are taught how to trade in Forex as part of their education. This enables them to make money for themselves and become successful. This is also good for the country’s economy. We want to do this for our young graduates in South Africa,” Bongwe explained.
Khozi was abandoned by her birth mother when she was a toddler. A kind-hearted, unemployed woman, Rose Mokgaphane adopted her when she was three years old. Her adoptive mother scrimped and saved, and managed to put Khozi through school, and eventually through university. But even though Khozi has an N6 in Civil Engineering, she has not been able to find employment.
Bongwe and Mutsharini took it upon themselves to give her hope and skills by training her in Forex trading so that in future she could relieve her adoptive family and herself of poverty.
“She is well-trained and busy practising on a demo programme.”
Bongwe said they both felt Khozi was ready to start trading for real, but she had no money to open a Forex account.
“We got together and everyone donated what they could. We managed to collect R10 000 for her.”
On Tuesday, the group met in the garage at Khozi’s home, ostensibly for her to give a presentation on what she has learnt about Forex.
She was so surprised when she was presented with the cheque for R10 000 in the middle of her presentation that she promptly burst into tears. After hugs all around, Khozi composed herself enough to address those present.
“I am overwhelmed. I don’t have the words to thank you enough. Never give up, be patient and your dreams will come true!”
