The levels of the reservoirs that supply water to the city are at acceptable levels and no serious shortages of water supply have been recorded.
A fire hydrant that was knocked over during a motor vehicle accident on the corner of Thabo Mbeki and Gazelle streets last Thursday, offered a lot of spectator value and traffic was disrupted until the main water line could be isolated.
“The levels of the new 50 and 30 mega litre reservoirs are at 41% and 30% respectively, while the Potgieter Avenue reservoir is quite full at 80% of capacity. The old 30 mega litre reservoir is at 32% and the Seshego reservoir has recovered from a low of 22% to 74%. The flow from Ebenezer Dam and the Olifantspoort plant was 134 and 87 litres per second respectively,” Communications and Marketing Manager of the municipality, Matshidiso Mothapo reported on Tuesday.
The schedule on the website of the Department of Water and Sanitation that was updated on 4 September, reflects that the levels of the Tzaneen, Hans Merensky and Magoebaskloof dams are at 53,5%, 100,8% and 100,3% respectively, while the levels of the Dap Naudé, Ebenezer and Flag Boshielo dams are at 91,4%, 98,4% and 52% respectively. The average level of all the province’s dams is at 74,1%.
