Supporters of the annual Cansa Shavathon in Polokwane were indeed loud in colour according to this year’s theme over the past few days and companies still have an opportunity until tomorrow (Friday) to host their own events.
Cansa Limpopo’s big event was held at Mall of the North on Saturday during which supporters had the option of either having their heads shaved, colour sprayed or just making a donation.
Cansa Limpopo community mobiliser, Christopher Combrink said the proceeds of their Shavathon that took place at Mall of the North on Saturday was in the region of R6 000. He thanked everyone who worked tirelessly to make the day a success, especially Four Seasons Academy, Ace Models and Perfect 10 who ensured the shaving and spraying went smoothly.
Polokwane Observer ran into Olympic gold medallist Lyndon Ferns who also supported the cause by having his hair colour sprayed. “I try whenever possible to support causes such as these,” he said with a modest smile.
DHL Polokwane hosted their own Shavathon last Thursday during which personnel and clients could support Cansa and were able to add R670 to the association’s coffers. Cansa Limpopo is now preparing for tomorrow’s (Friday) Relay For Life under the theme ‘Go Purple, Wear a Hat of Hope’, to take place at the Peter Mokaba Stadium from 15:00 to 23:00.
To host your own Shavathon for more information about how you can be part of the Relay For Life, contact Cansa Limpopo on 015 297 1268.
