Successful Bible Olympiad and Worship Day

The second annual Eagle’s Nest Christian School Bible Olympiad and Worship Day which was held last Wednesday was a blast and attracted over 90 learners from three schools who competed for prizes that were at stake in three different categories.
The competition was introduced last year and attracted learners from Northview Christian Academy, True Life Christian School and Eagle’s Nest. Learners competed in the Olympiad, poetry and drama competitions and an art exhibition. Event organiser and Eagle’s Nest Head of Department for Intermediate Phase, Bertie de Lange said learners set the stage alight with their performances and they were delighted that the competition was growing each year. He indicated that they hoped to attract more schools next year.
He explained that certificates were given to all the participants in the competition that was open to learners from grades 1 to 7. In the Bible Olympiad, the prizes were for top three finishers while in poetry and drama the prizes were for the top two and only the overall winner was recognised at the art exhibition. Upon completion of the challenge, points were added to determine the overall winning school. The first spot went to Eagle’s Nest while Northview finished second position and True Life third.
“Last year we only hosted the Bible Olympiad and this year we introduced two more categories. Learners have different skills hence we want to have as many categories as possible to accommodate them all. The competition is open for all the schools that have Christian values. We want to touch the life of every child and the challenge is not about competition but to have fun and learn more about Christ,” De Lange explained.
He called on other schools to invest in the programme to teach learners about Christ and thanked Northview and True Life for honouring the invitation and making the day a success.
