Traditional attire brightens Heritage Day

Learners of Myngenoegen English Private School (MEPS) were allowed to leave their school uniforms at home and dress up in traditional attire last Friday.
Sandy Pitsi, Sport and Co-curricular Head at the school, said that the occasion was a Heritage Day celebration hosted by the Grade 11 learners to raise funds for their 2018 matric farewell.
The proceedings were opened with a prayer by Tlhabanedi Lekganyane, Head Boy and the school choir entertained guests that included parents, with their songs.
Divine Manganye was crowned as Little Miss Heritage Day and Joyce Chabalala as the 1st Princess, while Celine Veremu won the Miss Heritage Day title, followed by Thato Moyo as Queen.
Learners also took part in a treasure hunt and a raffle of which the winners were Masechaba Dikgale and Musa Mabaso. Prizes for the winners included beauty accessories, watches, journals, homework diaries and snack packs.
A highlight of the day was the Poetry Recital Competition that was won by Tshegofatso Lekota, with Felicia Maponya as the runner-up. The winners each received an anthology.
