The inner circle road at Mitchell House was a hive of activity when learners took part in a go-cart race on Friday.
The go-cart race is an annual event and five teams representing Grades 8 to 12 and one team from the Enrichment Centre participated in the race over ten rounds, starting and ending at the entrance of the school’s administration block.
The winner was the Grade 12’s, known as the Trom Team. They were also the winners of last year’s race when they were still in Grade 11. They attributed their success to team work. “We did not practise before the race but had our strategy worked out,” a team member said. The winners received pizza to celebrate their victory and to restore their energy levels.
The Grade 11 team had the best team spirit but there was no designated prize for that. Mitchell House Director of Sport, Fred Romijn said that the go-carts was a very popular event on the school’s annual programme and well-supported by fellow learners who supported their teams on the route.
