Red carpet rolled out for women
eMZINONI – Top Events will host a women empowerment seminar on Saturday, 9 August at the Apostolic Faith Church from 8am to 4pm.
It is aimed at encouraging women to unleash there full potential in life and honouring all women who fought against the former regime.
Ms Gugu Mahlangu, CEO, said the women of 1956 stood up against all odds.
“We are now free because of their efforts, but it seems as though we do not know what to do with our freedom.
“We want to help women to not be too comfortable with the privileges they have today, but to use them to shape our society.
“God has given us freedom, so we must show gratitude.
“Our struggle is no longer the same as that of our mothers, but ours is poverty, abuse and a lack of job opportunities.”
Ms Mahlangu said today’s struggle is affecting a lot of issues, such as confidence and courage.
“At this event we want to remind women that they are wonderfully and fearfully made.
“They must know that God is the lifter of their heads and they must place their confidence in Him.”
She said Ms Lindi Masina, executive mayor, will be a guest speaker as most women are inspired by her humble beginnings in life.
“She began as a teacher and is leading one of the biggest municipalities today.
“Local politics used to be a man’s world until she came in and proved that women have a talent and the skills of leadership.
“I believe her testimony will help many women.”
Ms Winnie Kubeka, SABC, will be among the other four guests.
Entrance is free.
